The Theological Nomad was born out of a desire to understand the Word of God and see the church unify around its shared commitment to Christ. As I grew up and stepped out of the denominational bubble that I grew up in, I realized that the ideas I held so tightly weren’t the only ones out there. It takes a lot of work to sift through all the ideas and concepts in theology, so having done that work for many years now, the Lord led me to create a place where those discussions could happen free from any agenda but the pursuit of understanding and truth. While I still have my own beliefs, there are many I hold more lightly than I did when I began my journey (and some I don’t hold lightly…see our beliefs page for those!). As you read and engage here at Theological Nomad, allow your ideas and preconceptions to be challenged and strengthened, and let the goal of your journey be to know God more and build the unity of His bride the church.
How it Started
I grew up homeschooled and attended a small church in Upstate New York, never having much experience outside of my circles until college. That time challenged me to re-examine what I believed and ultimately led to a strengthening of the faith that I grew up with.
After marrying my wonderful wife, I was a full-time missionary for many years, doing my best to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth while living as a husband, father, student, and writer. I now work and teach at Vision Christian Bible College and Seminary training the local church in theology and strengthening the body in their love for truth. It’s a blessing that you’re here, and I and all our contributors hope you are blessed by what you read and discover.
